In the 1980s and 1990s, Hong Kong’s film industry was vibrant. Willie Chan was the manager of many famous actors, actresses and singers of Hong Kong and Taiwan. His artists include Carol Cheng, Jacky Cheung, Maggie Cheung, Cherie Chung, Joey Wong, Tony Leung, Jackie Chan, Tony Leung Ka Fai, Angie Chiu, Sylvia Chang and Carina Lau. He was the first in establishing the profession of talent managers. He forged a bond with many superstars. Even today, Willie and his artists are still like father and sons. They are like old friends. He accompanied the stars to grow. He was known as a gold medal manager.

Willie Chan started working in the entertainment industry since 1970. He became a talent manager in the 1980s. He was the first talent manager in the industry.

作為一個經理人，特別還是一個成功的金牌經理人，陳自強有他自己獨特的人格魅力。幾十年來，他與他的各種性格的明星藝人們，由普通朋友到好朋友、保姆、經理人、甚至成為兄弟、父女，一直在幕後陪伴著他們成長，積累了一種難得的情意與緣份。。

As a talent manager, especially as a successful gold medal talent manager, Willie Chan has his own unique charisma. For decades, he has formed a rare affection and fate with his artists. He started off as being a normal friend, to a good friend, then to babysitter, manager, and eventually he became their brother and father. He accompanied the artists’ career.

當然40幾種性格，個個都不同。但那時辛苦的是沒辦法關電話。任何時間、哪怕夜晚，哪個子女打來都要聽。所以，很多人叫我大哥，不過早一批的真的是叫我老豆。時至今日，曼玉、學友、紅姑都是「老豆」、「爹_」這樣相稱。

Of course, with over 40 types of personality, each is different. I was very busy that I could not even turn off my cell phone. Any time, even at night, I would answer any call from my artists. Many artists call me “big brother”. Some artists that I had in my early career called me father. Even today, Maggie, Jacky and Cherie still call me “father” or “daddy”.

陳自強以他在娛樂圈獨到的眼光以及廣闊的人際關係，一手捧紅多位天王巨星，因此縱橫影圈40載的陳自強(Willie)獲頒發“專業精神獎”，終於從幕後走到了台前，他的“仔仔女女”包括成龍、趙雅芝、黃錦燊、吳彥祖、任達華、關錦鵬等均上台道賀，而當時正在開演唱會的張學友更是給這位圈中“爸爸”一個驚喜。

Willie Chan used his unique vision and extensive networks to help establish the careers of may superstars. He was awarded the “Professionalism Award” after been in the entertainment industry for four decades. When he walked on stage from behind the scene, his “daughters and sons” including Jackie Chan, Angie Chiu, Melvin Wong, Daniel Wu, Simon Yam and Stanley Kwan all went on stage to congratulate him. Jacky Cheung, who was then performing at a concert, gave his “father” a pleasant surprise.
